Nihal Singh is a student of Gurbāṇī Saṅgīta and political philosophy, exploring their interplay as an MPhil candidate at Balliol College, Oxford University. He founded The Vital Anjan in 2020 to encourage reflection on the relationship between GurSikh ideas, culture, & affairs.

Cheslav ‘Bala’ Singh is a Canadian pianist based in London. His passion for music has led him to explore many different genres as both a performer and researcher.

Bhāī Baldeep Singh is a pioneering polymath in the conservation of South Asia’s intangible cultural heritage. Embodying the civilizational assets of twenty-seven grand maestros, he is a treasury of Gurbāṇī Saṅgīta with a panoramic vantage and performative élan unmatched today.

Dr. Francesca Cassio is Professor of Music at Hofstra University. An ethnomusicologist specializing in South Asian music, she has conducted long-term fieldwork in North India since the early 1990s, receiving intensive training in dhrūpad, ṭhumrī, and Gurbāṇī Saṅgīta.

Devin Creed is a history PhD student at Duke University. His work focuses on famine, food, and nutrition science in 19th and 20th century Bengal and North India.

Keerat Kaur is a Canadian-born Artist & Architect (OAA) with Sikh-Panjabi roots. Her work takes shape through the disciplines of painting, sculpture, hand-embroidery, music, and architecture.

Dr. Nirinjan Kaur Khalsa-Baker is Senior Instructor of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University. The first female exponent of joṛī-pakhāvaja of the Amritsari-Kapurthala Bāja, her ethnographic research explores Sikh knowledge systems through their pedagogy, philosophy, and practice.

Dr. Manmohan Singh Kumar serves as Strategic Advisor and Vice President at the investment fund CDPQ, as Visiting Professor and Distinguished Fellow at Georgetown University, and as Chairman of the Sikh Human Development Foundation. Formerly a senior official at the IMF and a Director at Credit Suisse, he holds a Ph.D. in economics from Cambridge University, afterwards teaching there for five years and at Harvard University, additionally publishing numerous books and papers. 

Jeevan Singh Riyait is an investment professional and musician based in London. He previously studied Theology and Religion at Oxford University before undertaking an MPhil at Cambridge University, with his thesis focused on sovereignty and Sikhi.

Jatinder Singh Durhailay is a UK-based artist and Indian classical musician. His artistic practice spans painting and drawing, with a special focus on the use of naturally derived pigments.

Harram Khurram is a Pakistani-born visual artist and former art director. She recently graduated from Oxford, where her master’s research focused on miniature painting and manuscript culture in South Asia and the Middle East. 

Juvraj Singh is a London-based professional working in financial services. He studied information engineering at Cambridge University and serves as The Vital Anjan’s webmaster.
